BWCMC Family Camp - Pulau Jerejak Rainforest Resort - 19/8-21/8/12

This was our first family camp with Butterworth Chinese Methodist Church..initially, we didn't plan to go but after some persuassion from the Reverend, finally we registered ourselves for this 3D2N camp.

Pulau Jerejak was a small island opposite Queensbay mall..Hubby went there before for company teambuilding few years back..and the Resort was in good condition..This round..wow..hubby claimed that this was his worst hotel stay experience ever..why?

1. The room
- no towel provided..when we asked for towel, the customer service said only can provide us with 2 towels and no extra..when the towels were here, hubby dare not use coz of the yellowish stains on it..I was not so particular so I used it..
- there were big ants on the floor..we were quite worried coz Abby was sleeping on the floor (extra mattress)..but thank God, she was safe!
- speaking of the extra mattress..another problem..we have been requesting since checked in but no action done..till our camp organiser, he sacrificed one of his room mattress and passed it to us..
- the toilet's floor was 'flooded'..the design of the toilet was not good, hence the water couldnt subside well..

2. The food
- we were told by the caterer that they just taken over from the previous caterer (who ran away due to unsatisfaction coz the resort cancelled their contract) for less than 2 weeks..hence, they also kelam kabut..almost for every meals, we gotta wait for our food to be served..and they didnt refill the food in time..but one thing good was..the food was pretty good..
(Unfortunately, I got food poisoning on the last day.. darn!)

3. The ferry
- you need to take the ferry to the resort..we parked our car at the jetty (parked at your own risk)..the big ferry broke down, hence only left with one sampan and a speed boat..the waves were pretty strong and we were all wet! (we took the sampan)..the other church members took the speed boat..they had a bad experience too..coz the speed boat ran out of petrol in the middle of the sea! We had the same experience too (ont he last day)..but luckily the boat had reached the jetty..hence not so scary!

Besides all the above, we had a good fellowship amongst the church members..Abby and Ian were quite happy..especially Ian..he was like an energetic bunny..can't stop runing around the resort and the hall..Poor Papa & Mummy gotta chased him all the times..as for Abby, luckily she has a closed friend, Vanya..so both of them always stick together and required less attention from me..

We had a good news during the camp too..Rev Mrs Wee, who was 39 weeks preggy..gave birth on the last day of the camp..and it was an adventurous one too..they had to request for emergency boat at 3am ..and called for ambulance to wait for them at the jetty..Praise God, it was a smooth delivery and big congrats to Rev Wee and family.
