It has been some time since I last baked a chiffon cake..I browsed through Christine's website and found this recipe on black sesame chiffon cake and decided to try it out..It was an easy recipe and the cake tasted good.
Ingredients
5 egg whites
5 egg yolks
80g self raising flour
90g caster sugar (60g for egg yolks and 30g for egg whites)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cream of tartar
50g vegetable oil
80g milk
25g black sesame powder (I couldn't find black sesame powder, so I bought black sesame seed, blend it into powder)
Note: Remember to toast the black sesame seeds before blending them (which I had omitted)
Methods
1. Preheat oven to 170C.
2. Sift flour and baking powder.
3. In a mixing bowl, beat yolks and sugar till pale and yellow. Add in oil and milk, combined well. Add in flour mixtures and mixed well.
4. In a clean bowl, whisk egg whites till foamy. Add in sugar and cream of tartar and continue to whisk till soft peak.
5. Fold in egg white mixtures into the batter and mixed well with a spatula. Pour the batter into the cake pan and baked for 35-40mins, or till skewer comes out clean.
6. Remove the cake from oven and place on wire rack to cool.
